Rosie Yang '24 Receives Scholastic Arts Award Gold Key

Every year, students from our various art classes submit pieces of their work for the Middle Tennessee Scholastic Arts Awards. Once students submit their works, experts judge the pieces on originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal vision. There are four categories of awards: Honorable Mentions, Silver Key Awards, Gold Key Awards, and American Vision Awards. This year, Father Ryan had one student from Mr. Durand’s AP Art class submit for consideration – Rosie Yang ’24.

Rosie submitted a colored pencil drawing titled “In the Bowl” and received a Gold Key Award.

“The Arts Program has prepared me with skills and experiences. For example, we do regular critiques for each of our projects in AP Art. These critiques are fun and beneficial for my artistic growth, allowing me to receive feedback from my peers and teacher, Mr. Durand. I like the collaborative environment where I feel comfortable sharing opinions and learning more. Moreover, Mr. Durand is a funny, knowledgeable, and inspiring teacher. His guidance has motivated me to create, and I’ve gained confidence while using the power of art to communicate and express myself,” said Rosie.

We are so proud of all of our students and their hard work!
