Jinx Cockerham and Pat Simpson '74 Named to the TSSAA Hall of Fame

The TSSAA has announced it will induct eight new members into the TSSAA Hall of Fame, including former Volleyball Head Coach and Girls Basketball Head Coach Jinx Cockerham and current Irish Wrestling Head Coach Pat Simpson '74.

Jinx Cockerham joined the Father Ryan faculty in the fall of 1970, teaching typing, shorthand, and business. From 1976 to 2015, she led the Irish Volleyball team to five TSSAA State Championships (1992, 1999, 2004, 2006, and 2015) and guided the Girls Basketball team to three TSSAA State Semi-Final appearances. In 2019, she was recognized as part of the inaugural class inducted into the Father Ryan Athletics Hall of Fame.

In 1979, Pat Simpson, a former Father Ryan wrestler and 1974 graduate, returned to Father Ryan as a teacher and Head Coach. Since then, he has led the Irish to 26 Team State Championships and numerous Individual State Championships. In addition to Wrestling, Pat coached the Softball team at Father Ryan, leading them to a State Championship in 1995. He has been inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Father Ryan Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the 1974 State Champion Wrestling Team.

Jinx and Pat will be inducted at the annual Hall of Fame luncheon in Murfreesboro on Monday, April 7.

Congratulations to these two Irish icons for their years of success and dedication to pursuing excellence in and out of their sports.
