Football Program Names New Offensive and Defensive Coordinators

Father Ryan High School’s Football program proudly announces Head Coach Zach Mettenberger’s staff, with Pat Curran as the new offensive coordinator and Dean Cokinos as defensive coordinator.

Dean Cokinos joins the Irish with over 30 years of coaching experience. He previously served as the Head Coach and Vice President of Football Operations for the Nashville Kats Arena Football Team. His coaching background spans professional and international football, as well as college and high school teams, including stints at Ensworth School, Knoxville Catholic High School, and Brentwood Academy. Coach Cokinos is dedicated to instilling good sportsmanship in players and fostering a winning culture while maintaining strong connections with parents, players, administrators, coaches, and community members.

Pat Curran, Father Ryan alumnus of the class of 2000, joins the Irish after seven seasons as the offensive coordinator for Nolensville High School. During his time with the Nolensville Knights, Coach Curran helped lead the team to two semi-finals, secure seven playoff appearances, and win the 2022 district championship. Coach Curran brings over 18 years of coaching experience, and he looks forward to the opportunity to honor the traditions of Father Ryan while developing a strong Irish Football program for the future.

In making the announcement, Coach Mettenberger stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Coach Pat Curran and Coach Dean Cokinos to our staff. Their knowledge of the game, along with their understanding and respect for this historic program, will be instrumental in helping us move forward and honor the legacy of Father Ryan Football.”
