Dr. John Howington, a 1981 graduate of Father Ryan and a graduate of Tennessee Technological University and the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center College of Medicine, currently practicing as a thoracic surgeon in Silverdale, Washington, was honored as the 2025 UT College of Medicine Outstanding Alumnus Award Winner.
The Outstanding Alumnus Award is the UTHSC College of Medicine's highest honor given to a graduate of the college.
Dr. Howington has published more than 50 research publications and guidelines and has presented hundreds of lectures internationally. He has also served in a variety of leadership roles with CHEST and with other national thoracic surgery societies. He currently serves as the 87th President of the American College of Chest Physicians.
