The fun doesn’t stop during the summer at Father Ryan! Our courts, fields, stages and classrooms are alive with pulse-pounding action in our highly sought-after summer camps. From football to dance to dodgeball to art, we have something for all interests, abilities and age levels.

  • Algebra I Camp

    
    $140 - Designed for Rising 6th-8th Graders
    Session 2: June 11-15, 2018, 12:00-4:00 p.m. (lunch included)

    Algebra I camp is designed for students to develop and sharpen their basic math skills. Campers will become comfortable with the concepts and language of algebra through inquiry activities, small groups, and games guided by Ms. Corso. The activities and games will provide campers with the unique opportunity to discover the presence of math in their own lives. Campers will explore basic operations with integers and decimals, expressions and equations, ratios and proportions, and the basics of graphing and linear equations.

  • Creative Writing

    $140 - Designed for Rising 6th-8th Graders

    English teacher Dr. Erica Steakley will lead future authors and screenwriters in this camp. If your child shows potential in creative writing, be it poetry or longform, this camp is for them!
     
  • Microscope Camp

    $135 - Designed for Rising 6th-8th Graders

    Campers will learn about the discovery of the microscope and its importance in scientific study. They will learn the parts of a microscope and proper use and handling of a microscope. They will learn and practice techniques for preparing different types of specimens for viewing under the compound light microscope. The camp will introduce a broad range of biological topics, including plant structure and function, microorganisms, and cell division all while using the microscope as the tool for discovery and learning. 
  • One Voice Nashville

    $135 - Designed for Rising 5th-8th Graders
    Session 1: June 4-8, 2018, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (breakfast included)

    Instructor: Mary Margaret Randall

    This new camp, taught by One Voice Nashville founder Mary Margaret Randall, will show students how to develop, prepare, write and record their stories for Oral Presentations and Narrative Journalism.  These skills will be valuable for classroom presentations and public gatherings.
  • Percy Jackson Greek Mythology Camp

    Designed for Rising 4th-8th Graders

    Get ready to spend a mythic week at Father Ryan this summer!

    Become the hero you were born to be at this camp, taught by Sarah Kieffner, where your mind and body will be taken on quest for greatness.  Daily activities will include games, puzzles, craft, drama and storytelling fit for a progeny of Mt. Olympus.  

    Snacks and other materials provided.  Please bring a water bottle.
  • Skate Art Camp

    $135 - Designed for Rising 5th-8th Graders
    Session 2: June 11-15, 2018, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (breakfast included)

    Skate Art Camp will take rising 5th-8th grade girls and boys on a hands on trip through the history of Skateboarding from the late 1950’s through the present day. Artists at camp will watch documentary footage about skating, research skateboard related artist and leave camp with their own handmade cruiser deck that they will design and create based off their research.

    Artists who choose can bring in their own trucks, wheels and mounting hardware if they want to skate their boards when they take them home. Wood, paint and various art supplies will be provided by Skate Art Camp Lead Skate Artist Mr. Mike Mitchell. Trucks, wheels and mounting hardware is not provided and must be purchased separately.

    This camp will be headed by baseball and football coach Joe Coode '79. In small groups, campers will participate in baseball, soccer, football, kickball, lacrosse, archery, wrestling, basketball, dodgeball and track.
  • Boys Basketball Camp

    The camp is led by the two-time State Championship Coach Doug Bontrager '81, the Father Ryan coaching staff, and present and former Irish players. The mission of the camp is to help young players learn the skills to take their game and life to the next level. Each day the campers will be introduced to the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on: shooting, ball handling, defense, rebounding, and team play. Campers will also get the opportunity to improve their skills during the course of the day by participating in both individual and team games. Besides developing basketball skills, the camp staff is committed to working with your son to improve himself as a person. Daily talks will include topics on character traits such as leadership, hard work, commitment, discipline, and being a good teammate. Come dressed and prepared in basketball attire and ready to have fun!
  • Boys Lacrosse Camp

  • Cheerleading Camp

    Instruction includes basic cheer techniques, jumps, a spirit dance, and a variety of cheers, chants, and stunts. Cheerleaders will be divided into age-appropriate groups. Daily snacks and drinks will be provided. (Please let us know if your child has a food allergy.) Campers, led by the Father Ryan Cheerleaders, will perform at the end of the week.
  • Elite Dance Camp

    Come join the Father Ryan Dance Team, led by Alicia Brooks, the Father Ryan Dance Coach, in a fun-filled week of movement.  While at camp you will learn the three most common styles used by dance teams:  Jazz, Pom, and Hip-Hop.  You will learn technique and skills to use throughout each style, as well as musicality through movement.   The last half of camp, you will be taught mini combos in each style.  We will have a mini-performance on the last day to showcase your talent. 

    This is a great opportunity to meet the girls as well as learning about the Dance Team and what we are all about.  Maybe you are wanting to try out for the team, maybe you want to take other dance courses here, or maybe you just want to dance.   No matter which, we look forward to having you dancing here.
  • Themed Dance Camp

    $135 - Designed for Rising K-4th Graders

    Led by Lauri Gregoire, join the Father Ryan Dance Company for a week of dancing fun! This camp concentrates on teaching the fundamentals of dance while also working on overall performance quality. Participants will learn skills such as pirouettes and leaps as well as work on memorization and showmanship. They will learn various styles of choreography and will perform a showcase at the end of the week for friends and family.

    Participants will need to dress in comfortable clothing that allows them to move. Tennis shoes and jazz shoes are preferred, but socks can be worn if you do not have jazz shoes. For the showcase, participants are asked to wear black leggings or shorts with their camp t-shirt.
  • Flag Football/Dodgeball

    Designed for Rising 1st-8th Graders
    Session 2: June 11-15, 2018 (Morning, afternoon, and full day)
    Session 5: July 9-13, 2018 (Morning, afternoon, and full day)

    Led by baseball and football coach Joe Coode '79, campers will have a day of flag football in the morning followed by a variety of other sports like dodgeball after lunch. Campers are divided into age groups for our flag football championship game. Each team will work on its own playbook and football drills. The championship game will take place on Friday, the last day of camp. The winning team will be honored, and a playmaker award will be given out to the Camper of the Week.
  • Football - Middle School Contact Camp

    Whether you're just learning the game or looking to fine-tune your skills on offense or defense, Father Ryan's Football Camp is always one of our most popular. Head Football Coach Brian Rector and his staff will cover all the fundamentals of one of the country's most popular sports. Helmets and shoulder pads will be required for all participants.

  • Girls Lacrosse Camp

    The Father Ryan Girls Basketball Camp concentrates on teaching players the fundamentals of the game. Ball handling, passing, shooting, and footwork will all be taught, along with offensive moves and defensive positioning and techniques. In addition to skill work, players' mental approach to the game will be addressed and the importance of teamwork will be discussed. All girls will need to bring a basketball to camp each day.

  • Strength Camp

    $250 - Designed for Rising 5th-8th Graders

    Taught by Tyler Newman, Father Ryan's Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, this camp is perfect for mastering correct form and good technique in the weight room!
  • Golf Camp

    Coached by Greg Thompson, this camp is a great way to fine-tune your game for the summer.  Players will work on putting, short game, driving and live play.  On the Friday of camp, there will be a mini-tournament.  

    The camp will take place off-campus at Harpeth Valley and Percy Warner Golf Courses and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Parents will need to drop off and pick up at the courses each day.  
     
    Campers will need to bring lunch and a water bottle.  Snacks will be provided.  There will be guest speakers to discuss the mental aspects and fundamentals of golf.  If any day is rained out, you will receive a refund for that day.   Please pre-register so we can reserve enough spots at the courses.

    The Father Ryan Soccer Camp, taught by Father Ryan Head Coach Robin Dieterich '73, is a coed camp geared towards the players who wants to push themselves for success at a higher level. The training sessions involve working on one’s technical ability (foot skills, etc.), tactical ability (understanding the game) through small sided and large sided matches, and having fun.
  • Speed Camp (Youth)

    Designed for 9-13 year olds
    Session 1: June 4-7, 2018 (Mon.-Thurs.)

    The Father Ryan softball camp provides quality softball instruction on softball fundamentals and improvement in all areas of the game. Emphasis will be on fielding, hitting, bunting, and baserunning. Each day, campers will have the opportunity to improve their skills and softball knowledge with the help of head coach Ashlee Schenk, and current and former Father Ryan Irish softball players.

  • Volleyball Camp

    The Volleyball Beginner Camp is designed for beginning and intermediate players. Basic introduction will be given in major skills including hitting, serving and passing. Kneepads are not required, but a good court shoe is a must. Please bring a snack to camp.

    Designed for Rising K-5th Graders
    Session 1:   June 4 and 5, 2018 - Morning and Afternoon

    Middle School Elite Volleyball Camp is designed for intermediate-advanced player. Practice and revision of basic skill sets will be covered including hitting, serving and passing. The camp will also cover blocking formations, offenses and defenses and emergency techniques. Campers are divided into skill level groups the first session. Sand court attire will be needed the second and third days.

  • Wrestling Camp

    Designed for Rising K-12th Graders

    Led by head wrestling coach and MTSU Hall of Fame inductee Pat Simpson '74, the Father Ryan High School Wrestling Camp is designed to benefit both the novice and experienced wrestler. The camp emphasizes take-downs, pins, tilts, escapes and reversals. Campers will also view instructional videos of international, college and high school wrestling matches.

Morning/Afternoon Combo Camps

New this year, we'd like to offer you the option to take different half-day morning and half-day afternoon camps at the full day price. 

To take this Combo pricing option, simply select the Combo option for the given session for $240 and email summer@fatherryan.org with the morning and afternoon camps your child will be participating in.*

*Strength, Volleyball, Golf and Rock Climbing Camps are not valid for this offer.

After-Care

All participants will be supervised by Father Ryan staff after their camp sessions. Campers can take part in general activities like sports, games and art after their session ends.

After-Care is offered every afternoon of camp and is open to all participants for $20 a day. There is no After-Care offered for 1/2 day camps.

All children must be picked up no later than 30 minutes after their camp ends. If you are unable to do so, please contact Mr. Corry Stewart '06, Summer Camp Director, at stewartc@fatherryan.org or (615) 383-4200 to arrange After-Care (additional charge of $20 a day).

*These prices apply to most camps, but a few camps will have different price points. 

What to Bring 
Some camps require participants to bring their own equipment such as a ball or glove with the camper's name on it. Appropriate clothing for outdoor camps is also requested. Campers are welcome to bring a snack or drink. Contact Mr. Stewart at stewartc@fatherryan.org or (615) 383-4200 if your child has a food or other allergy. Read the full descriptions of each camp to determine specific requirements. We also suggest printing and bringing the receipt from your online registration to the first day of camp.




Camp Attire
All buildings are air-conditioned. Please wear comfortable clothing. Sports campers should dress in t-shirt and shorts with appropriate shoes or as directed by the camp director. Remember to bring water and apply sunscreen for all outside camps. Each camper receives a free Father Ryan t-shirt!

Transportation
Most camps will take place on the Father Ryan campus, but a few camps will be off-campus. Regardless, families are responsible for transporting campers to and from the camp locations. All children must be picked up no later than 30 minutes after their camp ends. If you are unable to do so, please contact Mr. Stewart at stewartc@fatherryan.org to arrange After-Care (additional charge of $20 a day).

All refund requests must be directed to Mr. Stewart at stewartc@fatherryan.org or (615) 383-4200. Refund requests made after the camp date will be at the camp director's discretion.
