Why Arts: The Arts4Life Series presented by Father Ryan

This series explores the positive impact that creative and performing arts have on a individual. It will also focus on using arts for good in the world, and how letting go of obstacles enables you to step into the role God has in store for you.

These events, located in the Center for the Arts, are all free and open to the public!

  • October 23, 2018 - 6:30 p.m. - Sisavahn Houghton

The Why Arts? Speaker Series is returning on October 23, and the first featured artist will be painter Sisavahn Houghton.
Ms. Houghton, a professor at MTSU, is a painter who uses her art to raise awareness about social justice issues, such as the bombings that took place during the Vietnam War and the plight of many refugees and immigrants. A refugee/immigrant herself, Ms. Houghton presents a firsthand portrayal through her work.
We are pleased to have Ms. Houghton on campus to kick off what is sure to be an exceptional  year for the Why Arts? Speaker Series at Father Ryan.
