Father Ryan Ice Hockey Team secured first win of the season

In its season opener yesterday, the Father Ryan Ice Hockey team secured its first win of the 2018/19 season, beating the Mt. Juliet Bears 3-0. The Irish put on a show in front of a capacity crowd of students and faculty who had the building rocking all night with chants, music, and school spirit.
Junior Peter Faulkner scored the first goal of the game for the Irish, cutting across the slot and firing home a laser just about the goalie's shoulder. His line-mate and fellow junior Matt Malone added another tally just minutes later, assisted by Michael Grimes.
The first star of the night was Senior Jack Gallagher who, in his first varsity game, added an insurance goal to extend the lead to 3.
Rounding out a strong opening performance was the team's two-headed monster in goal - Johnny Mugnano with 13 saves and Carson Mielnik with 11.
Now 1-0, the Irish are off til next Monday when they take on Ensworth at Ford Ice Center.
