Robin Dieterich '73, a Father Ryan alumnus and former Irish soccer player, is a member of the English department and is the Head Coach for Boys and Girls Soccer teams. He has taught English and coached the Varsity and Junior Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer teams at the school since 1978 with the exception of a brief six-year period when he taught at Brentwood High. His boys teams have claimed the State Championship on five occasions and his girls have won the title four times. Dieterich has also led countless athletes to collegiate success, including his son Tanner, who played for the Irish in 2013 when they won the state title. Tanner was recruited to the USMNT Under-17 World Cup team that competed in Chile in 2015, and now plays for the team's U-19 team. Mr. Dieterich earned his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English from Stetson University in 1978. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association, and Tennessee High School Soccer Coaches Association. Father Ryan was proud to honor Coach Dieterich and the soccer program that he helped build as the honoree at the school's 38th Annual Legacy Gala in 2017.
