Pat Simpson '74 is a Social Sciences Teacher and the Varsity Wrestling Coach at Father Ryan. Named both Wrestling Coach of the Year by The Tennessean and National Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association, Coach Simpson lives up to his honorary titles as he led this year's team to two more State Championship titles, the 25th for the program and the 20th for Coach Simpson. This is his fourth year in a row bringing the State Championship to Norwood Drive, and his second year in a row bringing home both the team and duals state titles. Coach Simpson coaches wrestling at all levels, and was a wrestler for the Irish in his day, starting his freshman year. He returned to Father Ryan as a faculty member and coach in 1979, the same year he earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance and History from Middle Tennessee State University.
