2023-2024 Uniform Guidelines

Mills Uniform Company is the school’s uniform provider for the 2023-2024 school year. Mills has been in the uniform business since 1947 and has provided us with the selection and service that we want for our families. 

Father Ryan’s uniform items and policy are as follows:

UNIFORM ITEMS

Boys Uniform

  • Pants, tan khaki or navy blue

  • Shirts, white dress shirt, long or short sleeve, oxford cloth, buttoned-down collar

  • Ties (must be purchased at Mills Uniform Company store)

Girls Uniform

  • Skirts, (must be purchased at Mills Uniform Company store)
  • Pants, (must be purchased at Mills Uniform Company store)
  • Shirts, white dress shirt, long or short sleeve, oxford cloth, buttoned-down collar

Shoes

  • Father Ryan does not have a specific uniform shoe
  • Shoes may be any style dress/casual leather shoe
  • Shoes must be solid black, brown or tan in color
  • Shoes must not have any distinguishing markings, logos or emblems
  • Shoes must have a closed heel

 

UNIFORM POLICIES FOR THE 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR

Boys Uniform

  • Belts - traditional leather belts must be worn with pants. Belts must be black or brown in color. Belts with excessive length are not permitted.

  • Neckties and bowties must be worn with the uniform every school day and must be the uniform necktie/bowtie purchased through Father Ryan’s approved uniform provider. The top shirt button must not be visible, and the necktie must be pulled up to the collar.

  • Pants - boys’ uniform pants must be tan khaki (as opposed to chocolate, brown or green khaki), or navy blue in color. No cargo pants (or pants with pockets on the sides of the legs), denim khaki, baggy, or drawstring style pants will be allowed. Pockets on pants must not be visible or sewn to outside of trousers (i.e. patch pockets). No brands/logos are to be visible on trousers. Pants may not be pegged or tucked into shoes or boots; they must be in good condition, not frayed, and without holes. Pants may not be worn in the “low rider” style.
  • Shirts must be white, long or short sleeve, oxford cloth, with a buttoned-down collar. Shirts must fit properly, not be torn or frayed in any way, and may not have logos, emblems or monogramming.
  • Boys must be clean shaven. Mustaches are not permitted. Sideburns may not extend below earlobes.

Girls Uniform

  • Leggings/Tights – girls may wear solid white, solid navy or solid black tights/leggings. No patterns, designs or mesh is allowed on tights or leggings. Sweatpants and/or other athletic/yoga wear may not be worn with the uniform skirt.
  • Pants – girls may wear uniform khaki pants purchased from Father Ryan’s approved uniform provider. Belts must be worn with pants having belt loops; loops may not be cut off to avoid compliance with this policy. Belts must be leather, black or brown. Girls who choose not to purchase these pants will wear the uniform skirt.
  • Shirts must be white, long or short sleeve, oxford cloth, with a buttoned-down collar. Shirts must not be torn or frayed in any way, and may not have logos, emblems or monogramming.
  • Skirt - the uniform skirt is a navy/red plaid available in three different styles: kilt, hip-stitched pleat or kelly skirt. The skirt must be worn no higher than 3 inches above the top of the knee (measured in the front and back, and on the sides). Skirts may not be rolled at any time to alter the length. No pins may be worn in a skirt.
  • Undergarments should be white or skin color and not visible through the white uniform shirt.

Shoes

Students must wear any black, brown, or tan colored shoes or any shoes using color combinations with brown, black or tan. Laces must be worn and tied if the shoe is designed for laces. The color of the laces must match the shoe.  No tennis shoe soles are to be worn. Students may NOT wear: a boot of any kind, tennis or athletic shoes, sandals, or slippers.
