COVID-19 Athletic Protocols for Spectators
Father Ryan is pleased to announce that the Irish will begin interscholastic sports competition the week of September 8, following the Labor Day holiday, with special protocols and certain limitations as outlined below. In addition, there will be live broadcasts of on-campus sports events through a new partnership with LocalLive (see details below).

In consultation with the school’s Medical Advisory Committee, the school has developed the specific protocols based on the latest guidance and restrictions from Metro Public Health and the TSSAA.

Below are the protocols for all fall sports teams.  Please visit the individual athletic team pages on this website for game schedules.

  • Home Games

    Metro Public Health directives require the school to make these changes in the on-campus athletic competitions.  

    1. Temperature Checks
    Temperatures will be taken at all gates, and no one with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or above will be permitted to enter.
     
    2. COVID-19 Screening Questions
    Questions will be posted at all entrances and no admittance will be granted if the answer is “YES” to any of the COVID-19 screening questions.
     
    3. Masks must be worn and social distancing observed while on campus.
    All fans must wear facial coverings at all times while onsite (except children under age 2).  All spectators must sit in pre-designated socially distant locations throughout the game, except those from the same household. No medical exemptions are allowed.

    4. Limited attendance
    Attendance at any home competition will be limited to two family members of the athletes, managers, coaches, cheerleaders, and dancers. (Please see Fall Sports specific information below.)

    5. Lines may not form at the entrance or restrooms.
    People must stand 6 feet apart when entering the facilities and continue to maintain social distancing.

    6. No concessions
    There will be no concessions at any games, and spectators may NOT bring food or drink to the games.  Father Ryan will provide bottled water for all spectator.
  • Attendance at Home Games

    Football
    Two tickets and one parking pass per player, manager, and coach.

    There will be no charge this season for football tickets or parking passes, due to the limited capacity requirements. Each coach will distribute the items needed to attend the game. The players will not need a parking pass to park on campus. Spectators may arrive no earlier than one hour prior to start time.
     
    Football Cheer
    Two tickets and one parking pass per cheerleader and coach.

    There will be no charge this season for football tickets or parking passes, due to the limited capacity requirements. Each coach will distribute the items needed to attend the game. The cheerleaders will not need a parking pass to park on campus. Spectators may arrive no earlier than one hour prior to start time.

    Dance
    Two tickets and one parking pass per dancer and coach. There will be no charge this season for football tickets or parking passes, due to the limited capacity requirements. Each coach will distribute the items needed to attend the game. The dancers will not need a parking pass to park on campus. Spectators may arrive no earlier than one hour prior to start time.
     
    Girls Soccer
    Two tickets per athlete, coach, and manager. There will be no charge this season for soccer matches. Each coach will distribute the items needed to attend the matches. Spectators may arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to start time.

    Volleyball
    Two
    tickets per athlete, coach, and manager. There will be no charge this season for volleyball matches. Each coach will distribute the items needed to attend the matches. Spectators may arrive on campus, no earlier, than 30 minutes prior to start time.
     
    Cross Country
    The head coaches will provide information prior to each contest.

    Golf
    The head coach will provide information prior to each contest.
     
    Marching Band
    The Marching Band will perform at halftime only.  The directors will provide additional information.
  • Away Games

    1. Spectators will need to follow TSSAA guidelines AND the opposing school’s guidelines.
    2. If traveling by bus, student-athletes must wear masks and be socially distant on the buses.
    3. If athletes are not involved in physical activity, they need to wear a mask.
    4. Coaches are responsible for their own teams’ COVID-19 questions and taking temperatures. 
    Please note:

    The TSSAA states that once the temperature of student-athletes has been taken during the day and was below 100.4, and the student-athlete does not exhibit symptoms, then that athlete does not have to go through the process again.  Father Ryan students do this every morning.

Follow the Irish All Season!

Father Ryan has added cameras and broadcast streaming capabilities in Giacosa Stadium and in the Catignani-Drennan Fieldhouse so Ryan Nation can follow the Irish in action throughout the year. 
 
ALL varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen home football, girls soccer, and volleyball games will be broadcast live through LocalLive, a nationally recognized broadcaster of athletic events.  In addition, Father Ryan’s Behind The Crest team will add the local color and play-by-play at home football games.
