Homecoming 2019 Activities

There’s just something about standing up and clapping along to the Father Ryan Fight Song during those chilly autumn football games. There’s something about hearing the bass drums, trumpets and tubas march down the bridge proudly playing the tune to that familiar song.
For Father Ryan alumni, to pledge their loyalty to the Purple and White has a deep meaning that extends beyond the bounds of a crowded football field. And on Homecoming night, those emotions run even deeper.

Each year, in late September, we welcome in the start of another year at Father Ryan, celebrate our heritage by honoring our upcoming Golden Grads, and enjoy an autumn evening full of fun, family, friends, and nostalgia.

Shuttle buses begin at 4:00pm.

Our 2020 Homecoming will take place on Friday, October 16, 2020! Check out the fun to be had below.

  • Homecoming Queen

It happens at halftime, in the middle of the field, with an abundance of elegance and style. For at the center of every Homecoming Night is the presentation of the Homecoming Queen, a title proudly held at Father Ryan High School.

For more than 65 years Father Ryan's Homecoming Queens have been the highlight of these memorable evenings. Whether the Court was made up of ladies from Cathedral High School, St. Bernard Academy or St. Cecilia Academy, as it was before 1971, or from Father Ryan ever since, the pride has always been on display.

We are welcoming back our Homecoming Queens from the upcoming reunion years (classes ending in 1s and 6s). In addition, we have also invited all Homecoming Queens from 1949-1967 to join us. We will be presenting them at halftime on Homecoming Night prior to the introduction of the 2020 Court and Queen.

  • Honoring our Newest Golden Grad Class

Every year at Homecoming, we honor our Golden Grads, the alumni class that will be celebrating their 50 year reunion in this upcoming calendar year.

This year we will be saluting and honoring graduates from the Class of 1971. They will serve as honorary captains for the Father Ryan Football Team.
