  • Step 1: Submit the Online Application

    Our application for the 2023-2024 school year is now open. 

    Please note: if you are applying for the Common Release Decision Date, your application and all supporting documentation are due no later than December 2, 2022.

    Cooperative or Academic Support Applicants: If you are applying to the Cooperative Support program or for Academic Support and have had any psycho-educational evaluations, you must upload a copy to our Admissions portal or submit a full copy of the testing report to

  • Step 2: Register for the Placement Test

    The Placement Test given at Father Ryan, in addition to recommendations, other standardized test scores and transcripts, will help determine the appropriate placement of students in Father Ryan's academic program.

    Our Placement Test is being offered on the following dates: 

    November 5, 2022
    December 3, 2022*
    Check-in at 7:45am; Pick-up at 11:45am

    *If you are applying for Cooperative or Academic Support, our placement test will be offered with extended time on this Saturday ONLY. 

    Please Note: The Placement Test registration can be accessed only from your Admissions Portal. To access the Admissions Portal, your application must be completed and an $85 application fee must be submitted by the Thursday before your scheduled test day.
    HSPT: (High School Placement Test) This is a national high school exam written by Scholastic Testing Services. The exam covers five areas: verbal, language, reading, math skills and quantitative math (math aptitude). This test is mandatory and will help determine your placement in Father Ryan’s academic program. Please visit for more information.

    Please note:

    International Applicants: If you are an applicant whose citizenship is that of a non-English speaking country, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Father Ryan’s TOEFL code is 1953. Please visit for more information.
  • Step 3: Request Grades and Standardized Test Scores

    Please request grades and standardized test scores from your current school. We need the following items to be sent to Father Ryan High School: 

    • 8th Grade Report Card - through the first quarter or semester of 8th grade. 
    • 7th Grade Report Card. 
    • Standardized Test Scores - taken in the current year and/or previous year

    Please Note:
    If you are applying for the Common Release Decision Date, please submit all of the above items no later than December 2, 2022.
  • Step 4: Request Teachers and Administrator Recommendations

    Please use our Admission Portal to send requests for your recommendations. Father Ryan requires the following recommendations: 

    • 8th Grade English Teacher
    • 8th Grade Math Teacher
    • 8th Grade Science Teacher
    • Administrator Recommendation

    • First name, last name, and email address for each of these individuals. 
    Please Note:
    If you are applying for the Common Release Decision Date, please submit all recommendations no later than December 2, 2022.
  • Step 5: Register for Interview

    Personal Interview: You will be contacted by the Office of Admissions to schedule an interview. The interview is a required step in the application process, and it is an opportunity for Father Ryan to get to know you, your interests and anything else you feel is important for the Admissions Office to know. You should look for an email from Father Ryan High School ( to schedule your Interview time.

Father Ryan High School is proud to be a full member of the Independent Schools of the Nashville Area (ISNA).  As a full member, along with a select group of other elite independent schools, we adhere to a quiet period between the acceptance notification date (March 4, 2023) and the parent response deadline (March 10, 2023). We understand this can be a critical time for families selecting schools. If you need anything during this quiet period, while we cannot initiate contact to families, you are encouraged to reach out to the Office of Admissions with any questions.
