Meet the 2023 Valedictorian:

Katie Cummings

Katie Cummings

Father Ryan is pleased to announce that Katherine Elizabeth Cummings is the Valedictorian for the Class of 2023. While enrolled at Father Ryan, Katie has taken nine AP courses and holds a current 101.5424 weighted GPA.

Katie has been inducted into the National Honor Society, the Cum Laude Society, Father Black Honor Society, Société Honoraire de Français, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, and Tri-M Honor Society.

Katie has been recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar and has received the National Indigenous Recognition Award, National Hispanic Recognition Award, Outstanding Achievement in Literature Award from the Colonna Club of Nashville, AP Scholar Award, Silver and Bronze Awards on the National French Exam, Father Ryan Hockey “Bag of Peanuts” Award and the “Living the Mission” Award. Katie was the first female selected for the GNASH High School Hockey All-Star Game. Also, Katie has received class subject awards for at least nine classes, has been on the Principal’s List, and has been on the Academic Dean’s List every quarter.

Katie has applied and been accepted to University of Michigan – Ann Arbor, University of Notre Dame, Boston College, and Vanderbilt University where she has received the Tennessee HOPE scholarship, the General Assembly Merit Scholarship, Ned McWherter Scholarship, and the Crescere Aude Merit Scholarship.

Katie will be attending the University of Michigan and majoring in Political Science. At Michigan, Katie has committed to play for the Michigan Women’s Ice Hockey team to continue her academic and athletic career.

Meet the 2023 Salutatorian:

Mark Ciampa

Mark Ciampa

Father Ryan is pleased to announce that Mark Vincent Ciampa is the Salutatorian for the Class of 2023. While enrolled at Father Ryan, Mark has taken nine AP classes and holds a current 101.2581 weighted GPA.

Mark has been inducted into the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Cum Laude Society, Order of the Arrow Scouting Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society.

Mark received the Father James Black Award for Excellence in his freshman year. He has been recognized at the Tennessee Governor’s School for Science and Engineering, and at Model United Nations and Youth in Government for Outstanding Bill, Outstanding Resolution, and Outstanding Delegate, as well as being selected as a Committee on National Affairs Delegate for Youth in Government which is the highest honor given to a Youth in Government delegate. Mark is a National Merit Commended Scholar and an AP Scholar with Honor.

Mark’s leadership roles include Co-Leader of Chess Club, Eagle Scout, President of the Model United Nations and Youth in Government Team, Head Student Ambassador, Peer Mentor, Captain of the Science Olympiad Team, Freshman Class President, and Program Director for Boy Scout’s of America’s National Youth Leadership Training.

Mark has been accepted to Vanderbilt University, University of Georgia, and The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He has received the Tennessee Hope Scholarship and the McWherter Scholarship.

Mark will attend Vanderbilt University where he will double major in Biological Sciences and Political Science.
