The Father Ryan Summer School Program affords students the opportunity to take courses for credit and/or non-credit. The program for credit will consist of two separate sessions of nine teaching days. Each teaching day will run from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, for a total of nine days, for a total of 63 hours per session. Our non-credit enhancement courses will consist of nine teaching days with four hours of instruction each day.

An important change this year: semester grades at Father Ryan are now independent of each other. So if a student fails one or both semesters of a required course, he/she will have to take a summer school session to make up for each semester. For example, if a student fails 1st semester of Geometry, he/she will be required to take Geometry during the 1st session (which covers material from the 1st semester). If the student also fails 2nd semester English, he/she will be required to take summer school English in the 2nd session.
Father Ryan’s summer school courses
If a student fails more than two semesters total, of any subjects combined, he/she may have to look outside of Father Ryan summer school to obtain those necessary credits. Please call John Spore (383-4200) for any specific questions about a student’s academic requirements.
This information was published in the April Happenings newsletter so that you are aware of summer school requirements before making plans for your family. Please remember that a student who receives a failing grade for either semester in a core class offered in our summer school program must repeat that course in Father Ryan’s summer school. Failure to adhere to this policy will make the student ineligible to return to Father Ryan for the Fall semester.
Should you have any questions, regarding this policy, please contact Academic Dean Sara Hayes at the school, 383-4200.
