Congratulations to Ryan's TSSAA DII State Individual Champions: A Bateman, a 3-peat at 171lb and Z Herrmann at 275 lb! Bateman was also named the DII Outstanding Wrestler. Fr Ryan finished 2nd overall at the tournament with 11 other wrestlers receiving medals:

3rd Place - P Marchetti, 130 lb;
4th Place - A Simpson, 112 lb; M Brewer, 119 lb

6th Place - J Loveless, 103 lb; A Rowan, 152 lb

After defeating MBA for the DII Middle Region championship, the Irish competeD in the Duals State meet on Saturday, 2/3 at Clarksville High School. They defeated St Benedict in the quarterfinals and McCallie in the semifinals. The Irish were unable to overcome Baylor in the finals, though, and fell 38-21.

Congratulations to the Irish wrestlers who won the 38th annual Fr Ryan Invitational on January 5-6. With 27 teams competing on 5 mats, there was plenty of wrestling for everyone! The finals which were broadcast live on www.schoolsportsradio.com are still available for a limited time. Congratulations to Dustin Ortiz (Franklin) and Brandon Wright (HOU) who were voted the outstanding wrestlers of the tournament.
