The hockey team completed its most successful season to date this weekend. In their first ever state playoffs, they won their opening game against Germantown 3-2. The second game saw them take a lead into second period against the Knoxville Pirates. The Pirates fought back to win the game 5-4 on a late goal. In the final game of the weekend, the Irish had a slow start which enabled JP II to take an early lead. While the Irish stayed with them the rest of the game, they could not overcome the deficit and ended up on the short side of a 6-1 score. Based on the point system in the state playoffs, the Irish ended up third in their division; overall they were tied for 5th in state.
