Lou Graham Alumni Golf Tournament

Each year during Reunion Weekend, Father Ryan hosts a golf tournament in honor of 1956 alumnus and 1975 U.S. Open Golf Champion Lou Graham. We invite you to participate in a day of fun and fellowship that benefits tuition assistance at Father Ryan.

Lou Graham is one of the PGA Tour’s outstanding players, a charter member of the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame, and a proud alumnus of Father Ryan. Unlike many charity golf tournaments, ours offers a special experience for our golfers. The tournament’s namesake, Lou Graham, will be at the tournament to meet each player at the putting contest.

Father Ryan alumni and their spouses, current parents, parents of alumni and friends of the school are encouraged to register for this memorable day on the links.

Special Olympics hosted at Father Ryan

Nearly 400 athletes registered for last Friday’s 2013 Special Olympics Nashville Spring Games at Father Ryan, and the value goes far beyond the games. It was a day of high achievement, great effort and blue ribbons Friday for hundreds of Nashville athletes. Kudos to the Father Ryan students that were on Spring Break, but that spent last Friday volunteering at the Special Olympics. Junior Phillip Brunner, a student volunteer, said: “Whatever place they come in, however they do, they are so happy. It gives you a different perspective on what you can really see out of people.”

Eight Father Ryan Seniors Named Finalists by National Merit

EIGHT FATHER RYAN SENIORS NAMED
FINALISTS BY NATIONAL MERIT

Largest Number in School’s History; Most for any Catholic School in Tennessee

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has announced that seven members of the Father Ryan Class of 2013 have been recognized as National Merit Finalists and one has been named a National Achievement Scholar Finalist, the highest number in one year in the school’s history. All were recognized as Semi-Finalists in the fall. Their new Finalist honor places them among the top high school students from across the United States for this school year.

The students and their elementary schools and parishes are:

Douglas Armey, Overbrook (Christ the King)

Joseph Connor, St. Henry

Griffin Connolly, Overbrook (Christ the King)

Erin Ferguson, University School

Elizabeth Haynes, Holy Rosary Academy

Daniel Huetter, Christ the King

Ransom Patterson, Holy Rosary Academy

Cole Pickney, Holy Rosary Academy

All eight students are involved in a broad group of activities at Father Ryan. In addition to active roles that each plays in a variety of service programs at the school, the students are active in the arts, sports and music. They are also accomplished academically in a wide range of studies, including numerous Advanced Placement courses.
