Father Ryan Drumline Wins 3rd in World!

Don't Try This at Home

In a performance that wowed the judges and brought the crowd to its feet in an enthusiastic standing ovation, the Father Ryan Winter Drumline captured the Bronze Medal at the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio last Saturday. The performance score placed the drumline within a whisker of the Championship and earned them the vote as the "Fan Favorite" for the competition.

This year's show highlighted physical and musical risks and is performed to original percussion compositions and arrangements by part time Father Ryan staff member, David England. The music was composed as a soundtrack to accentuate the drumline members' stunts, and is unique only to this particular production.

The uniforms were modeled after Evil Knievel's performance garb, and the set was designed to allow a variety of athletic stunts by the student musicians: jumps, trust falls, and even upside-down drumming!

WGI (Winter Guard International) is an international conference--with participants from USA, Japan, Canada, and Europe--of indoor color guard and percussion ensemble competitiors.

In March, our drumline placed First at the WGI Mid-South Regional (at Western Kentucky University) which made them eligible for the WGI World Championships.

Mark Marchetti Wrestling National Champion!

Congratulations to Mark Marchetti who won arguably the most prestigious high school wrestling tournament this past weekend. The NHSCA (National High School Coaches Association) Senior Nationals hosts a tournament for Seniors only with the top 8 being named High School All-Americans. By winning this tournament, Mark became just the third Tennessean to ever win the Senior Nationals tournament and only the fifth to ever make it to the finals. Mark dominated the 138 lb field during the tournament before capturing a very competitive Semi-Final win and then an exciting 1 point win in overtime in the finals. Mark is Father Ryan's first winner of the tournament, topping Cole Moseley, his longtime workout partner who was the first who made it to the finals last year! This is a great win for Father Ryan and the Nashville Catholic Wrestling community and everyone is thrilled to have Mark representing us.

2011-12 Annual Report

Every gift to Father Ryan is needed and appreciated, and every gift is put to good use, whether it is to provide need-based financial aid, construct, renovate, or maintain facilities or develop new academic programs.

Publishing an Annual Report each year is a small way in which Father Ryan High School can publicly recognize those who have made financial contributions to the school.

Gifts included in the lists on these pages were received between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012. Please take a few moments to read the names of alumni, current parents, alumni parents, friends, faculty and staff—as well as businesses, foundations and organizations—that made a contribution last year. Because of their support, Father Ryan High School can continue to be an experience of the living Gospel while challenging students to reach their academic, spiritual and personal potential.
