Father Ryan sophomore Erin James competed in the Division II Girls' State Track Meet in the long jump on May 26. At the M.T.S.U. track. Erin qualified for the state meet by placing fourth in the Division II Middle Region Championship May 18.
Erin's appearance in the state meet puts the finishing touches on an impressive season in which she equaled her school record in the pole vault (8 feet, six inches) and set school records in the triple jump (32 feet, 10 inches) and long jump (17 feet, three and three-quarter inches. The previous long jump record was 17 feet, one inch set by Erin Schell in 2001.
"Erin is a skilled athlete who figures to be a force in her three events tyhe next two seasons," says Coach Robert Kent.
