Lent is a season of prayer and penance that leads us to practice of a more Christian life. It sets before us the example of Christ. During this season, Father Ryan students sign up for various volunteer projects. These projects are designed to help the organizations as well as give FRHS students an opportunity to help our community.

If you missed signing up for a project or would like more information, contact Mrs. Clippinger in the Campus Ministry Office located in Guidance.

This year there are four different Lenten projects available to students at Fr. Ryan:

This is a city-wide youth volunteer service day scheduled for Saturday, April 8. Groups of 5 or 6 students will go out to different pre-determined sites in Nashville and work on various projects that will help the parks, playgrounds, homeless, youth-at-risk, and handicapped in the city. On that Saturday, students will work in the morning, have lunch, and then attend a concert in the afternoon.

Read to Lead - Literacy Program
This is a program to tutor students in grades K-3 to increase reading literacy. Students will work in the elementary schools one-on-one will students; they will receive specific training on how to help develop better reading skills and learn games that will aid in letter and word recognition.

Collection of Non-Food Items
Two organizations have asked for help in gathering non-food items. The Refugee Resettlement program gives "Welcome to America" baskets filled with various non-perishables to refugees settling in the middle Tennessee area. St. Vincent Outreach Program also offers aid to anyone in need.
