Trash Art Winners ![]() Congratulations to B Glidwell, M France, and R Geoghagan for their winning entries at the Metropolitan Board of Parks & Recreation 2003 Trash Art Contest. Glidwell and Geoghagan won 2nd place in the 11th/12th grade individual sculpture category; France won 1st place and also won 2003 Best of Show. We will be having a competition food drive between FRHS, JPII and St. Cecilia to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank! Each school will gather non-perishable / canned food goods. Second Harvest's most needed food items include: canned fruits, canned meats, macaroni & cheese, and peanut butter. Let's show them what Fr Ryan students can do!

"Volunteer of the Year"
At the Bishop's Dinner for Charity and Service on Oct. 24, St. Mary's Villa recognized the Fr Ryan Senior Service Program as its "Volunteer of the Year." St Mary's presented Mrs. Clippinger and the seniors who participating this year with a certificate. Father Ryan seniors have been volunteering to work with the children at St. Mary's Villa for more than 15 years.
If you've watched the Munsters on Nick at Night before, you were ready to meet the Sycamores when the Purple Masque Players presented their fall play, You Can't Take it With You. Alice Sycamore (K Conway) loves her family dearly, but explaining them to her boyfriend Tony Kirby (W Arthur) is going to take a bit of doing - the comedy is over the top! Band Champions!
The Father Ryan Marching Band had great weather and great success competing at the Music City Invitational at McGavock High School over the weekend. The band received a superior rating, was awarded first place in their class, and also won the Mayor's Cup, Small Division (Classes D & C). The Drumline also placed 1st in the Drum Line Small Division as well as received the Roll-Off Percussion Challenge Trophy for the 5th year in a row - it is awarded to the highest scoring drumline regardless of class. Way to go, Irish!
