On Thursday, October 5th, 2006, a group of Father Ryan students from the morality junior classes attended a walk-through refugee camp that was held in Centennial Park. The event sponsored by Doctors without Borders took the students through the everyday life of a refugee. The students were able to taste some of the food that the refugees eat everyday. They were also able to go into their tents and see how harshly the refugees live.

"I went with some members of the junior class to Centennial Park for a refugee camp walk-through. My experience was really great. It gave me a feeling for what these people go through every day of their lives and how they have to live. Seeing what these people live in made me appreciate the little things I have. It made me more appreciative for the life I have". – M. Olson

"I was one of the juniors from Father Ryan High School who made the trip to the refugee camp. I found it very interesting to see how a refugee lives and what they would have to do to get all of the things that they might need. It really opened my eyes to the hardships that refugees face". - A. Jones

"This experience really taught me to appreciate all that the Doctors without Borders volunteers do for the refugees. They give up all of their time helping these people, day in and day out. They are the life support for all of their refugees. I really liked going to the camp. It was a real eye-opener".– L. Bowlds
