Children of Eden is a musical based on the first nine and a half chapters
of the Book of Genesis. It begins
in darkness as God creates the heaven and the earth, and then He creates Adam
and Eve to share his dreams and the garden of Eden as their home. Through the
songs "The Spark of Creation", "In Pursuit of Excellence", and
"Lost in the Wilderness" the story follows the first chapters of Genesis as
Adam and Eve fall from grace and are exiled from Eden. The first act concludes
Eve, gathered with children and grandchildren, singing "Children of Eden"
a song about returning home to Paradise.
Act II continues as the descendants of Adam and Eve spreading all over the world in the song "Generations" and then picks up with Noah and his family building the ark. In order to erase the curse from the race of Cain, only Noah, his wife, and married children along with the animals ("The Return of the Animals") will enter the ark. The rain floods the land, but after forty days and forty nights downpour continues and the family discovers that son Japheth has hidden onboard his love Yonah who bears the mark of Cain. Noah forgives his son and as the ark comes to rest atop a mountain, the
families separates to the different corners of the earth to start a new generation. |
