Undaunted by having taken Basic Skills tests during the school day, parochial students from nine parochial schools came to Father Ryan's Math Day 2006 on Wednesday, 3/15. Each school sent 6th, 7th, and 8th grade respresentatives to compete in the regular contests as well as additional 8th graders to be on the "algebra team" for the algebra test.

After a welcome by Academic Dean Sara Hayes, students headed off to the classrooms to participate in 2 different timed math contests: word problems and fundamental skills. When all the testing was finished, the students and their advisors went to the Dining Hall for some refreshments and to wait the results. While the scores were tallied to determine the top three teams by Fr Ryan student volunteers and other Math teachers, Mrs. Janet Tate, chair of the Math department, and helpers J Holzmer and A LaHaie distributed the door prizes.
