Hey, upperclassmen, have you started to think about where you want to go to college? A wealth of opportunities just presented themselves!
Check out the College Counseling web site that the Guidance Department has put together
to help you with the process starting your Freshmen year. Mrs. Wilkinson and Mrs. Jones are constantly updating all the information.
While representatives are in town in the first week of October, over 140 of these colleges and universities to come to Father Ryan during 1st block on
October 2nd and 3rd. Juniors and seniors had a chance to visit with different schools each day.
Questions for students to ask...
- What percentage of students who enter as freshman graduate in four years?
- What percentages of graduates are admitted to medical, graduate, or law school?
- What is the atmosphere on campus? Friendly? Relaxed? Competitive? Pressured?
- Do professors or graduate students teach the classes?
- Do you meet 100% of demonstrated financial need? If not, how much?
- Do you require the CSS Profile?
- Do you give merit or talent – based scholarships?
- Will you school take into account special family circumstances when determining financial aid?
- Do you have an accredited program for the major I desire?
- What is campus life like?
- Is on – campus housing required?
- What is unique about this college?
- Do you offer special services for students with learning disabilities?
- Do I need to declare a major as a freshman?
- What kind of academic advising do you offer?
- How do you address campus crime?
- Do you guarantee housing for all students?
- How important is Greek life on campus?
