Every fall when school starts, most freshmen only know people from their former school and usually don't know much of Father Ryan's traditions and history. On a Saturday night at the beginning of the year, the freshmen class gathers at the Field House for "Freshmen Night". Led by Seniors and Father Ryan faculty, the freshmen have the opportunity to meet each other and learn some background about Father Ryan.

To get the evening started, the seniors planned a carnival with different activities: students could have their weight guessed, shoot a free throw, play Simon Says with Mr. Carson, play shuffleboard, or attempt the football toss. Winners received tickets that could get people put into/taken out of jail - arrested folks sans tickets were offered a chance to "sing" their way out as well!

After a picnic dinner on the patio, the students returned to the gym where the cheerleaders performed and taught them some of the FRHS cheers. The freshmen were divided up into small groups with senior leaders for small group activities and ice breakers. Afterwards, everyone participated in a tradion called the Ryan Walk - groups go it specific sites around the campus to learn more of the history and traditions of the school.

Following a class mass, the Dining Hall was reset for the final event of the evening - a dance! Dr. V provided the tunes as he emceed the event for the mixture of seniors and freshmen.
