If you tune into "Jerry Springer", "Ricki" or "Sally Jessie Raphel" most any day of the week, you are most likely to catch programming that constantly crosses the line of what is considered to be the "normal standards" of society.

Is tuning merely an indulgence into television's version of the middle-school food fight for a few hours a week? Or is an example of gutter "trash" television - of morally offensive material being aired in the middle of the day - that revels in the possibilities of "pushing the envelope" to the extreme?
