Welcome to Fr Ryan

Jim McIntyre 1/14/2005 - Today, Rev. David R. Choby, Diocese of Nashville Administrator, announced the appointment of James A. McIntyre as the 14th principal of Father Ryan High School. Jim will assume his new duties this summer as current principal Jack Langton retires.

"I'm pleased to be able to report the appointment of the new principal of Father Ryan High School, said Father Choby. "His appointment is the result of a long and thorough search process by the Father Ryan High School Board of Trustees. I thank the board and the members of its search committee for their excellent work."

Jim has served most recently as the principal at Cardinal Newman School, a co-educational, Catholic school in Columbia, South Carolina. He completed his bachelor's degree in history at the University of North Texas and received a Meadows Fellowship at Texas A&M-Commerce where he earned a master's degree in educational administration. During his 13 years as an educator he has taught American Government and United States History. He has served in administrative capacities at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas, Texas as an academic advisor and assistant academic dean, as well as coaching swimming and diving, basketball and football. The Dallas All Sports Association named him Boys Swimming Coach of the Year in 1995.

Both Jim and his wife of 12 years, Amy, attended Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas and both received their bachelor's degrees from the University of North Texas. They have three children.

While visiting Father Ryan, Jim praised the Father Ryan students, "I was most thankful for the time I was afforded during my visits to the campus to speak to current Father Ryan students. Poised, articulate, funny, and comfortable around adults, the Father Ryan students represented their classmates and families very well during our discussions. I hope to have more time to sit and talk with students during the spring and summer."
